Building inspection in France: www.aeb360.fr/building-survey-france/

At AEB 360, our mission is to give property owners the information they need to make sound decisions about their buildings. Until now, our videos spoke French. Many of the people who call us do not: they are buying a chalet in the Alps, a farmhouse in Provence, a flat in Paris or Lyon, and they want to understand what they are buying. So we are opening a second channel, in English: Building Inspection France.

What you will find on Building Inspection France

The channel is made for anyone who buys, owns or manages property in France and reads English more easily than French: private buyers, expatriates, investors, asset managers, and the agents and lawyers who advise them.

Two formats live side by side:

  • Short videos, under a minute, each on one type of property and one question: what to check before buying a luxury chalet in the Alps, a château in the Loire Valley, a sea-view villa on the Riviera, a Haussmann apartment in Paris, a stone farmhouse in Provence, a lakeside house near Annecy, a period flat in Lyon, a ski apartment in a resort block, a wine estate in Burgundy, a half-timbered house in Normandy.
  • Longer videos, on how a building inspection works in France, what an independent expert does that a diagnostic report does not, and how the French system of guarantees and insurance claims applies to a foreign buyer.

Every video follows the same line: what you can observe yourself, what it may mean, four practical steps, and where an independent inspection makes the difference.

Why an independent building expert, and why in English

France has no equivalent of the British chartered surveyor or the American home inspector built into the purchase process. The mandatory diagnostic reports cover energy, asbestos, lead or termites; they do not assess the structure, the roof, the damp or the workmanship. A buyer who wants that assessment has to ask for it.

In English: AEB 360 is an independent building expertise firm based in Lyon. Its experts analyse construction defects such as cracks, damp, faulty workmanship and insurance claims, and act as the policyholder’s expert to defend the interests of private individuals, professionals and institutions, across Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and throughout France for complex cases. We work for the buyer or the owner, never for the insurer or the builder.

The channel does not replace an inspection. It helps you ask the right questions before you commission one, and understand the report once you have it.

Subscribe and tell us what you are buying

Subscribe to Building Inspection France to receive each new video. The comments are open: tell us which property you are looking at and which region, and we will use your questions to choose the next topics.

The channel is published in English; titles and descriptions are also available in German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Hindi so that the channel can be found from anywhere.

Our French channel, AEB 360, continues as before with its guides on cracks, damp, defects and co-ownership.
